After Changes We Are More or Less The Same

Go ahead. Sing it nice and loud. ;)

Did you know that in later, live performances, Simon and Garfunkel added another verse to their iconic song The Boxer? The new lyrics add another dimension to the story.

“Now the years are rolling by me
They are rockin’ evenly
I am older than I once was
And younger than I’ll be and that’s not unusual.
No it isn’t strange
After changes upon changes
We are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same.”

When the pair took the stage together in Central Park in 1981, more than a decade after the duo split, the tension between them was noticeable (In the video below, you can see Art standing off to the side with his arms crossed as they sing.) It’s said that, among other things, he was peeved because Paul added new lyrics to the song.
